Wear That Space: Wearstler Beach House

http://vartnyahem.se
I'm so excited to announce the start of a brand new series! My new series "Wear That Space" takes phenomenal interiors and translates the space into your wardrobe. Our spaces truly reflect the way we dress, the way we feel, so I wanted to capture that in this new series. The first space I'm featuring is designed by none other then Kelly Wearstler. Wearstler uses many graphic art pieces to offset the very simple, neutral color palette of the space. Silver, white, lighter stained floors, all give this space a beach-like quality. What I like about the space is it doesn't scream beach house! One can feel the beach in the house in the details. The fashion reflects the space's artwork, as well as the furniture pieces. The tops were all inspired by the art. The pants and jewelry pieces were inspired by the furniture pieces and the art. The shoes were inspired by the furniture pieces. Many of the pieces can be mixed and matched to create a look. Which piece is your favorite?

Wildlife Paintings

http://tiffanybozic.com/
Artist Tiffany Bozic's "Wildlife" paintings are full of color, and beauty. The self-taught artist showed a wide variety of wildlife paintings in this series. From birds to sea creatures to the animals on dry land. The paintings would look phenomenal if printed on pillows, or even manipulated on an area rug. (ABOVE) The white birds set the tone for this piece. They're pure and add a sense of glamour and serenity to the piece. The dark background allows the different creatures in the foreground to be visible. (BELOW 1) The birds are wonderfully colored. I absolutely love all the texture and movement that Bozic was able to capture. (BELOW 2) This piece is a marriage between the creatures on land and the creatures under the sea. I love how the dark turquoise at the bottom fades into white at the top. It looks like the sea moving into the air. (BELOW 3) You can really see the love the mother bird has for her chick. The stylized nest really adds to the piece. I love the saltwater fish at the bottom! What do you think of Bozic's work?

Park Lane House

http://www.derekswalwell.com/
The Park Lane house is a brilliant urban looking home located in Australia. The home is extremely modern. (ABOVE) What I love about the home is that it manages to bring the outside in. Even though the home itself does not look one with nature, the design and flow of the home certainly does. (BELOW 1) Around most of the home is this white brick wall. Not only does it maintain privacy, but it also adds to the overall architecture of the house. (BELOW 2) The other side of the house it very different. Wood siding have replaced the white brick walls. I personally would have wanted to keep the front and back of the home more consistent. (BELOW 3) This drawing presents a clear view of how the structure is designed. What do you think of the house?

Weekly Start Off: No 18

http://pinterest.com
Happy Monday, May 20, 2013, readers! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. Is it me or are the chunky headphones coming back into style? Lately I've been seeing people rocking out to some pretty cool looking headphones. The beautiful thing about these chunky music makers is that they can block out lots of street noise. When you live in NYC, these headphones come in handy, but be aware, don't wear them and drive! I love how this fashion cautious girl styled her look. The matte black chunky headphones definitely complete the look.

1. On Saturday, I actually picked out a pair of chunky headphones for myself.  I bought a pair of Skullcandy Aviator Headphones in red. I have to say, I'm loving them. The sound quality is great and the color is totally rad (do people say that anymore)? If you're more interested in a pair that's super stylish, than I recommend these Frends Headphones. I don't actually know if the sound quality is that great, but they look pretty sleek.

2. Aside from the chunky headphones, I love what the girl above is wearing. The blazer is similar to this Soft Joie Neville Blazer. I love that you can't see the buttons, i don't know why but I think that's cool! I love Dr. Martens shoes, because not only are they super comfortable, but they are also stylish. I choose these black Dr. Martens Alfred Brogues because, I like having a different colored sole.

3. I've been having a bit of an obsession with this song from San Cisco. I think I heard them while I was shopping at ASOS. The song is so catchy, and put me in a good mood. The music video is a reminder to the awkward feelings you get when you start dating. Oh romance!
